This article reveals the essence of three major information revolutions that took place in higher education. It is established that they have significantly changed the way in which we receive and perceive knowledge, and have also influenced the very essence and organization of the educational process. Each of these revolutionary changes improved the quality of education, preserved the best of the old methods, while at the same time giving way to new technologies. This contributed to improving the learning process and increasing the quality of education through the use of the latest information technologies. The importance and influence of information technologies in higher education at all levels are analyzed: from the pedagogical process to the management of the educational institution. They have been found to play an important role in all aspects of higher education, as they contribute to improving access to knowledge and resources via the Internet, provide interactive learning and individualization of the learning process, and assist in the management of the educational institution by providing effective communication and data analysis. These technologies stimulate the development of digital skills among students and prepare them for the demands of the modern labor market, making them an important tool for achieving high quality education. However, it was established that information technologies can have some negative impact on the quality of education in higher education. In particular, students may spend more time on social media and other entertainment aspects of the Internet, which affects their concentration and academic performance. The Internet may be a source of unverified or unreliable information, which may lead to incorrect understanding and use of the material. In addition, problems with access to the Internet, computer programs and other technical aspects may arise and interfere with the normal course of study. In connection with the deepening informatization of society, the main aspects of the application of information technologies in higher education are highlighted and investigated. The proposed measures are aimed at solving organizational and methodical problems of informatization of education in order to promote the further development of IT infrastructure in higher education.
